The gingerNut range was sparked by the Ginger-Nut herself, Steph, after she developed Gluten and Dairy intolerances early in her career as a chef. Seeing a MAJOR gap in the market for good quality, tasteful alternatives, Steph has been creating and amending recipes ever since!

Based on the sunny coast of Bournemouth, Stephs dreams of gingerNut began in 2007 after a bout of ill health found herself to be Dairy Intolerant.

A little inconvenient as Steph had just begun her journey to becoming a Chef. However it only fuelled her interest into altering recipes and cooking with dairy alternatives. It really was a matter of re-inventing recipes as only 10 years ago you were looked at as if you had three heads when asking for soya milk with a brew!

A little more inconveniently, due to being in contact with wheat flour on a daily basis, Steph then became intolerant to even the smallest addition of wheat and gluten to a recipe.

Back to the drawing board and re-reinventing!

By this point the demand for gluten and dairy free products was skyrocketing. Despite this, the gingerNut herself still could not find good quality, tasteful alternatives available. It was time to share her skills for making cakes and savouries to satisfy all those having to go without.

GingerNut finally became a reality in 2016 when Steph pitched up to do her first market. With a borrowed garden gazebo over head and her dads decorating table underhand, a whole range of 100% gluten and dairy free cakes and savouries were displayed!

After the first few markets Steph found many dairy intolerant children unable to have soya too. So to please the little humans, the whole gingerNut range was re-re-reinvented to be Soya free too! Referred to by one boy as ‘Tummy-ache free cakes’.

Since those days, there’s been no looking back and the gingerNut following is strong!

Oh and the name, well it’s obvious isn’t it, made by a ginger nut(ter).

The shortbread was amazing! 1000 times better than any non vegan!!!

Gingernut goodies are fantastic. I am gluten free and vegan and often find it impossible to buy a nice sweet treat for myself. All the treats I’ve tried have been absolutely delicious and Steph’s delightful service and enthusiasm for what she does comes across in her products. Steph’s cakes are just as glorious as she is.
